Virtual Joint Class Pre-Surgery Program

Having a joint replaced marks a landmark decision for you and your family.  Joint replacement is the most significant advance in modern medicine in terms of improving quality of life…more so than heart surgery, prostate surgery or other types of surgery for cancer.

This online Pre-Op Program will serve as your primary educational tool for your surgery and the recovery that will follow.  Detailed descriptions of the operation will be provided along with planning guidelines for you and your home, exercises and nutrition information and information about what to expect on a day-to-day basis as you progress through your joint journey.

We recommend that you designate a family member or friend as your joint replacement “coach.”  We find that patients remember only about 10% of what they are told by various healthcare providers either during office visits or in live joint class presentations.  So, in addition to having all your information here in this program, it is extremely helpful to have the same person accompany you to appointments to be your “eyes” and “ears.”  This applies to all hospital, therapy and physician appointments.

The information in your Pre-Op Program will be presented in a series of seven modules.  You may want to print out the Pre-Surgery Program Table of Contents so you can follow along with each section as you complete them.

Each module will consist several topics.  Information will be presented for each topic and supported by slides or videos.  There will be a short quiz following each module that is required before progressing to the next section.  Don’t worry …. this isn’t like school and you aren’t graded on the tests. Their purpose is just to reinforce key points about your surgery and recovery that we want you to retain.  You will have the ability to go back over any of the modules or sections as many times as you like either before or after the quiz.

So let’s get started and get you on your way toward regaining an active, healthy lifestyle!
